Keen to purchase a larger home for their growing family, Rachel and Simon Harrington bought a handsome six-bedroom house on a local street they admired. 'The house itself had last been refurbished about 20 years ago, so we knew there was work to do,' says Rachel.

REACHING OUT

In addition to a full refurbishment throughout the house, Rachel and Simon began plotting an extension across the rear. ‘The original galley kitchen, while full of character, wasn’t making the most of the space,’ says Rachel. ‘We saw an opportunity to move it to the extension and create a spacious room with a good connection to the garden and a sense of indoor-outdoor living.’
