TWO INTO ONE

Converting two flats into one home created an opportunity to design an inviting family-size kitchen with plenty of impact

A family of five were able to see past all the work their new home needed as it was characterful and full of potential. 'The house had been split into two flats, so it needed lots of rethinking to restore it back to a single home,' says Veronika Lovasova, designer at Higham Furniture.

1 CREATING THE SPACE

While there had been small kitchens in both flats, the owners wanted to replace them with a single and much larger cooking-dining space on the ground floor, designed for family life with their three children and for relaxed entertaining and socialising with friends. By removing internal walls, they were able to create a spacious open-plan room with garden views.
