I WAS taken to the Sporting Targets clay shooting grounds in Bedfordshire when I was 26 as a birthday present. Here, I discovered fieldsports – and that I was an absolutely rubbish shot. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it and haven’t looked back since. At the time, I was with someone who had been shooting for more than 20 years, so I had my own guide. But it was hard for my then partner to understand just how alien the shooting world can be to someone like me: a girl who grew up on a city council estate in the 1980s.
