The decline of his reputation stemmed from verbal attacks and anti-Semitic insults uttered at a terrace in Paris’s Le Marais district in 2011. Following this incident, Dior parted ways with him as the creative director of their women’s line, and he was also dismissed from his own label.

Since then, Galliano virtually vanished from the scene, seeking refuge in his partner and a few friends. He decided to rehabilitate from his alcohol addiction, and no one heard much from him until 2014 when Maison Margiela entrusted him with the creative direction of the brand, bringing his name back into the industry’s spotlight.
