Settled in Bangkok for over a decade, Simi Sood has seamlessly blended her Indian roots with Thai traditions. As a passionate Kathak dancer, cultural ambassador, and recipient of the Athena Award, she continues to celebrate the best of both worlds. With her husband heading the Aditya Birla Group in Thailand and her daughter-in-law being Thai, her connection to the country runs deep.

Tell us about your background and how you came to settle in Bangkok.

Balancing both cultures has been a beautiful journey. At home, we maintain our Indian traditions—whether through food, festivals, or music. At the same time, we actively participate in Thai cultural events and respect their customs. My bond with Thailand has only deepened over the years, especially with my husband leading the Aditya Birla Group in Thailand and my daughter-in-law being Thai. This has given me a more personal connection to the country, allowing me to experience Thai traditions not just as an observer but as a part of the family.

How has living in Bangkok influenced your lifestyle and daily routine?

Bangkok is a dynamic and fast-paced city, yet it offers a certain sense of tranquillity that I truly appreciate. Life here has brought a refreshing change in terms of routine and experiences. The warm weather, efficient public transport, and welcoming Thai community have made daily life very comfortable.
