I don’t know if my crush likes me back

STUCK ON ONE GUY

I know we all have this problem, but mine’s been going on for two years. We had a little thing together, but it stopped when the holidays hit. I still like him, but I get mixed signals. He used to give me compliments and text me almost every night, but now it’s different. He still sends me cute emojis and talks more to me than other girls. That said, sometimes I feel like this is mostly in my head—and he’s not actually acting the way I think he is. Got any suggestions?

Dear Stuck On One Guy,

Hear me out. Since you’ve spent two years crushing on this guy without feeling good about what you’re getting back, it may be time to ease out of this unsatisfying situation. Instead of thinking, “We’re flirting, but I need more!” reframe it for yourself like this: “It’s been OK, but also frustrating and I’m going to start investing my emotions elsewhere.” No need to cease contact, but try to start caring a teeny bit less. How? By noticing and saying hi to other smart and kind people, making plans with friends and family and adding fun activities to your calendar. Sometimes you’re only as stuck as you think you are.
