Over the past 50 years, the global shark and ray population has decreased by 70%, with an estimated 100 million sharks killed by humans each year.

Now, with two-thirds of shark species at risk of extinction, journalist Mariana van Zeller is investigating the black market in sharks' fins. These are illegally trafficked to be used in shark-fin soup, a traditional Chinese dish.
