Q What do you think is the enduring appeal of this comedy about a bunch of oddball neighbours?
A It’s just so inventive. Neighbours aren’t friends you’ve chosen, but you have to get on with them. When we did the pilot [in 2013], it was a one-off, but the response was amazing. It’s because it has real bite and is realistic.
