Soapland is, as we know, a place where lives can be turned upside down in the blink of an eye… usually when people are ticking along nicely and think they’ve finally found contentment.

Take Rhona Goskirk, who, four years after undergoing a hysterectomy, discovers this week that she’s about to become a mother again. 

You’ll recall that, earlier in the year, Rhona’s ex-husband Gus (the first one) rocked up out of the blue. Admitting he’d fraudulently retained frozen embryos from their IVF treatment, he asked for her permission to use them to start a family with his new wife Lucy, as cancer treatment had left him infertile.
