MEGAN CUSACK on why there are tiers of joy ahead for nurse Nancy

Here comes the BRIDE!

When fun-loving Irish nurse Nancy Corrigan joined the Nonnatus House team for the 10th series of Call the Midwife in 2021, Megan Cusack wasn't sure her character would last the distance.

'She was always putting her foot in her mouth, and we didn't even know if she would graduate as a midwife,' chuckles the friendly actor, 28, as she joins TV Times for an exclusive chat. 'But now, she's come into her own, which is special.'

After a difficult start in life, which saw her grow up in an orphanage and then give birth as a teenager, things are looking rosy for Nancy. The fan favourite is now a devoted mother to daughter Colette (Francesca Fullilove), while, at Christmas, she fell for caring pharmaceutical salesman Roger Noble (Conor O'Donnell), and they quickly got engaged.

imageNancy has recently been away nursing in Surrey, but as the current 14th run of the BBC1 period drama concludes this week, she and her beau are back in Poplar for their wedding. Will hitches await before they say, 'I do'? Here, Megan shares the secrets of the big day...

How does Nancy feel about tying the knot in Poplar?

It's her home and where the people that she loves live. To come back for this major moment is all she could ask for. She wouldn't be the person she is if it wasn't for everyone there, so she's thanking them by getting them involved.

Miss Higgins (Georgie Glen) and Nurse Phyllis Crane (Linda Bassett) are at the heart of proceedings, aren't they?
