Sue Perkins is ‘obsessed’ with chess. ‘It’s pretty addictive – I play it on the bus, on the Tube… It’s definitely got me in trouble!’ she shares.

So it’s little wonder that the presenter and comedian jumped at the chance to helm Chess Masters: The Endgame, an eight-part BBC2 competition which sees 12 amateur players from across the UK battle it out in a gauntlet of brainbending puzzles and eliminator rounds in a quest to be crowned the champion.

Keeping an eye on proceedings and providing expert commentary are grandmaster and three-time British chess champion David Howell and chess coach and The Traitors Series 2 contestant Anthony Mathurin.
