The net could be closing in on some of the wily criminals involved in the Brink’s-Mat heist and its aftermath as the second series of BBC1 drama The Gold continues this week.

Inspired by the true story of and theories around the 1983 robbery of £26 million worth of bullion from a warehouse near London's Heathrow Airport, the new six-part run has seen shrewd detective Brian Boyce (played by Hugh Bonneville) and his task force go global in the search for the missing loot. Now, they're hoping to locate robber Charlie Miller (Sam Spruell) and his share of the spoils by tracing those who are helping him launder the proceeds (see panel, right).

Meanwhile, there is growing turmoil in Tenerife for gold dealer turned timeshare magnate John Palmer (Tom Cullen), who admitted that he unwittingly melted down some of the bullion but was acquitted.
