David Mitchell and Robert Webb make their hotly anticipated return to sketch comedy this week with their brand-new C4 series Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping.

Fifteen years after their BAFTA-winning BBC2 comedy That Mitchell and Webb Look ended, the Peep Show actors will once again be offering their characteristically wry look at modern life in the six-part series. Joining them will be an ensemble of comic talent including Ghosts star Kiell Smith-Bynoe.

Here, David, 51, and Robert, 52, reveal why they felt it was the right time to revive the format...

How did the new series come about?

ROBERT We always said that if anyone wanted to do it again, we'd be up for it, but we weren't especially expecting to do another sketch show because they've fallen out of favour. We'd already had one massive bite of that cherry - we did four series for BBC2 and five [of That Mitchell and Webb Sound] for Radio 4. So it was a surprise to be asked to do it again.
