The triumphant Lionesses return to WSL action as the new season kicks off at Stamford Bridge on Friday when champions Chelsea host Manchester City. This will be the final season to feature 12 teams in the top tier, with the league set to expand to 14 clubs next year.

Here's our club-by-club look at the new campaign...

ARSENAL

As last season's runners-up prepare to play all their fixtures at the Emirates, Lionesses star Chloe Kelly has penned a permanent deal with the European champions. She will be joined up front by Canada's Olivia Smith, signed from Liverpool for a British record fee of £1 million.

ASTON VILLA

After finishing with a record run of five consecutive victories, Natalia Arroyo's side will be hopeful of improving on their sixth-place finish. Villa, who have signed keeper Ellie Roebuck from Barcelona, will once again play all their home matches at Villa Park.

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION

The club has re-signed Euros star Michelle Agyemang for a second spell on loan after the Lionesses striker helped Brighton finish fifth last season. Coach Dario Vidošić has also brought in rising star Carla Camacho from Real Madrid.
