Following her true-crime programme about Jack the Ripper, historian Lucy Worsley turns her attention to another serial killer who was terrorising Victorian London at the same time.

'I really enjoyed my Jack the Ripper investigation,' says the 52-year-old. 'But a lot of people won't know about another serial killer who was operating in the same period and in the same city'.

Between 1873 and 1902, London was rocked by the so-called Thames Torso Murders, a series of grisly crimes for which no one was ever brought to justice.
