Based on the Puzzle Lady Mysteries by American author Parnell Hall, the series stars Downton Abbey's Phyllis Logan as an eccentric crossword-setter, Cora Felton, who develops a knack for solving suspicious deaths.

Known as the Puzzle Lady because of her famous crossword column, Cora, who's also renowned for her flamboyant sense of style, has recently moved to the quintessential English town of Bakerbury with her long-suffering niece Sherry (Charlotte Hope).

But her crossword career takes a twist when a woman is found murdered in the local graveyard, with a mysterious clue attached to her body.
