The team get ready to hang up their boots as A League of Their Own returns for one last season

- ALISON SLADE, SEAN MARLAND

FINAL whistle

After more than 15 years on our screens, BAFTA-winning sports panel show A League of Their Own returns this week for its last-ever season in TV's top flight.

We caught up with host Romesh Ranganathan and regulars Jamie Redknapp, Jill Scott and Micah Richards to get the low-down...

ROMESH RANGANATHAN

How does it feel that the show is ending? It's sad, but we've had an amazing run. I watched the show from the early days, desperate to be on it, and my first booking as a guest was with Arsenal players Ashley Cole and Robin van Persie, which was my dream. To then become host has been incredible.

Do you worry what the producers might have planned for the finale? Yes, I'm terrified. I'm the least alpha on the show, and they never let me forget it. Whenever there's an opportunity for a game to throw stuff at me, they always take it.

Do you ever have a kickabout with Micah, Jill and Jamie? I avoid it at all costs. Any time a football comes out on set, I find something very important to do at my desk.

Which guests are you most excited about this year? Wayne Rooney will be great, and Chloe Kelly is amazing. My kids absolutely love her.

JILL SCOTT
