YOU'VE SEEN PENNYWISE AND Art slice open unsuspecting teens. Now meet Frendo the Clown, a small town's terrifying mascot who enjoys chainsawing kids in cornfields.

Frendo wears white make-up, red hair, and a tiny pork pie hat strung to one side; almost what you expect from a classic creepy clown. However, Frendo's straightforward look is a misdirection, as his film Clown In A Cornfield, based on Adam Cesare's award-winning novel, is anything but your average slasher flick.

It starts as you would expect: with Frendo committing a bloody murder. Flash forward a few years and Quinn (Katie Douglas) and her father (Aaron Abrams) have moved into a dusty, smelly house in the idyllic town of Kettle Springs. Quinn soon becomes friends with a local group of fellow youngsters who make YouTube videos transforming Frendo into a serial killer, much to the chagrin of the adults who grew up idolising this Ronald McDonald-type figure.

Frendo, you see, adorns the tins of corn syrup the town sold during its heyday. Unfortunately for Quinn and her friends, his killing spree isn't restricted to the internet, soon becoming a reality - although just not in the way you would expect for a film about a killer clown.
