Mandy Moore doesn't want to make people cry anymore. That's why, after six years as matriarch Rebecca Pearson on tearjerker This Is Us, Moore, 39, decided to join the second season of the Peacock medical true-crime series Dr. Death, playing a TV producer who falls for a con man. "I wanted to deviate as much as possible and find something that didn't remind me of the past at all," says the mom of Gus, 2, and Ozzie, 14 months.
"That's where the challenge lies." Her new gig proved extra challenging because "I literally had a 6-week-old baby when we started shooting," Moore says.
"I was constantly like, 'Now I'm nursing, now I'm back on-set.' And I had a not even 2-year-old toddler, so there were a lot of moving parts." The Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated actress offers a look inside her offscreen whirlwind.
