There can never be too much information to empower working mothers. Kalwyna Rathod speaks to women about their experiences with balancing roles
Being a working mom is not just about balancing work and family responsibilities and juggling schedules, it’s also about having to deal with the weight of societal expectations, managing feelings of guilt and inadequacy, and struggling to find time for self-care. There are positives too — you get to be a great role model to your kids, become an expert at multitasking, feel proud of yourself for financially contributing to the family, and have a sense of purpose and an identity beyond motherhood.
If you've decided to walk this tightrope, you already know it’s going to be a wild ride. Here's some help you could use...
SONIKA KHURANA SETHI Interior Designer & Founder - Coloraza Interior Designs, DelhiMotherhood was always a scary concept for Sonika. Although she has always been ambitious, she hadn't had a conventional path to success. Every step in her career had come with extra hurdles, but she figured it out on her own. “By the time I got married, I had built something solid,” she reveals. “And, with my husband's unwavering support, I felt I was finally in a good place professionally. So, five years later, when we thought about having a child, the decision didn’t come easy to me,” she admits. Sonika found the idea of becoming a mother overwhelming, not because she didn’t want children, but because she didn’t know how to not work. All the examples around her showed motherhood to be a choice between home and career — never both.
