There's been a paradigm shift in the beauty industry. Instead of anti-ageing, we're now moving to 'slow ageing'.

Take It Slow

Recently, the Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner sparked much chatter online with her tauter, more lifted face that rivalled that of her 44-year-old daughter Kim Kardashian.

Plastic surgeons and dermatologists took to social media to dissect what sort of treatments she had had done, and it also led to a larger discussion on how women should be allowed to age the way they want, and whether such commentary should be restricted to just women.

At the other end of the spectrum, however, there’s been a paradigm shift — the focus is on ‘slow ageing’ and skin longevity. Typically, the beauty industry has always used ‘anti-ageing’ in connection with products that claimed to counteract wrinkles, crow’s feet, and sagging skin. Now, however, beauty giants are also taking steps to remove the negative connotations and focus on longevity and healthy skin instead. South Korea's largest beauty retailer Olive Young recently held a ‘Slow Ageing’ popup in Seoul, along with a campaign called ‘As Slow As Possible’ to promote ‘well ageing.
