Whitey cat was completely white, just as his name suggested.

Whitey's Accidental Holi

Because of this, he always stayed away from dust, dirt and harsh sunlight. He was afraid that even a little carelessness might dull his bright white fur. As Holi drew closer, Whitey's worry grew day by day. He feared that someone might put colours on him. If that happened, his white fur could turn dark, and everyone might laugh at him, saying that his name was 'Whitey' but his colour was no longer white.

Because of this fear, Whitey stopped going to school. He also stopped stepping outside the house a full week before Holi.

On the morning of Holi, Whitey stayed hidden inside his room. He had already told everyone at home that if anyone came to meet him, they should politely say that he would not play Holi.

Whitey sat quietly in his room, drawing pictures. Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

Oh no. Who could be here at this time? Could it be my friends? Whitey thought.

As his mother walked towards the door, Whitey reminded her once again.

“Mummy, please remember. If anyone asks for me to play Holi, say no,” he said anxiously.

His mother nodded and went to open the door. Whitey listened carefully.

“Aunty, is Whitey at home?” Tony monkey asked from outside.
