Over the years, a few private stories have leaked. The late Queen Elizabeth II's dresser, Angela Kelly, confessed in her memoir, The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe, that she broke in the monarch's shoes for her.

Princess Diana's butler, Paul Burrell, dished to The Sun that when Prince Harry was once fed a smaller breakfast than his big brother, the nanny told him, "William needs more filling up [because] he's going to be king one day." And according to Omid Scobie's Endgame, King Charles' valet irons everything he wears, down to his shoelaces. The valet is also in charge of his childhood teddy bear, "who went everywhere with Pa," Harry shared in his book, Spare.
