Kate Toon loves books, whether she is reading them or writing one. But most of all, the author adored whiling away her time browsing through the new releases and unread classics at her local store, Book Nook, at Umina Beach on the New South Wales Central Coast.
“I’ve been bringing my son in since he was really little,” Toon tells WHO. “We'd look at books for him and then I'd check out the crime, the historical fiction, everything really — I am an avid reader.”
When she heard the shop was shutting down in early 2024 due to plummeting sales, she decided to jump in and buy it.
