The advert for a personalised pyjama business could easily have been a scam, but when Tess Nguyen spotted it on Gumtree, her instincts told her it was a winner. Trusting that gut feeling has seen the 29-year-old from Western Sydney make millions.

“It was late at night and this ad for Midnight Mischief caught my eye,” she tells WHO. “I’d never heard of personalised pyjamas and I was pretty up-to-date with trends, so I sent an inquiry.”

A physiotherapist, not a businesswoman, Tess also checked in with more clued-up friends but, when they saw the numbers the then owner sent, they advised Tess not to buy it.

Something was telling her to do it anyway and, a month later, in 2018, she negotiated the price down to $15,000 and snapped it up.
