AFTER SITTING OUT THE PREVIOUS INSTALMENT, THE ACTRESS RETURNS TO THE FRANCHISE THAT HELPED PROPEL HER TO STARDOM

Five words were all it took for Neve Campbell to light up social media in March 2024: "Sidney Prescott is coming back.

" With that statement, the actress announced her return to iconic horror movie franchise Scream.

The announcement, which was met with a flurry excitement from fans, was extra newsworthy because the actress, two years earlier, had withdrawn from previous instalment Scream 6 after a pay dispute.

However, the 52-year-old has always made it very clear that the popular slasher series has a huge place in her heart, even when she's not part of it.

Thankfully, the powers that be came to their senses and Campbell headlines Scream 7, this time in fierce-mum mode protecting daughter Tatum (1923's Isabel May) - named for Sidney's BFF portrayed by Rose McGowan in the original - from her longtime franchise nemesis, Ghostface.

But considering a few different characters have thrown on that infamous Halloween costume since Billy (Skeet Ulrich) and Stu (Matthew Lillard) did in the first film, who's calling to say "Hello, Sidney" this time?
