The world was captivated by Kate Winslet after her turn as Rose DeWitt Bukater, the young socialite being forced into a loveless marriage in James Cameron’s 1997 mega-hit Titanic. But after 30 years of scrutiny in the public eye, the actress is finally feeling free to just be herself.

For years following her breakout role at just 20, Winslet was subjected to “bullying” over her curvy figure. Her weight made headlines after she was unable to maintain the physique she’d shown in the film’s sultry nude scene, where her character asks Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) to “draw me like one of your French girls”.

“I was consistently told I was the wrong shape,” Winslet told US Vogue in a new interview. “I was consistently told I would have to settle for less.”
