COMING HOME FOR A NEW GIG WAS THE ICING ON THE CAKE FOR THE NEW ZEALAND STAR

As the handsome and dependable Marine-turned-small town bartender Jack Sheridan in Virgin River, Martin Henderson makes women across the world swoon. His latest role, however, is quite a departure from that and might come as a bit of a shock to his legion of fans.

In Madam, Henderson portrays Rob, the useless, cheating, dreamer husband of Mack (Rachel Griffiths). Rob always turns to his wife to save the day, which she does by taking the unusual step of opening up an ethical brothel to provide for her struggling family.

It comes as no surprise who Henderson chooses when WHO asks which character his exes would most compare him to in real-life.

“Jack!” the 50-year-old insists, before bursting into laughter. “Oh my God, I hope they would also say Jack, just so I can still sleep at night. No-one wants to be a Rob.”

While the characters are polar opposites, Henderson scores high praise for his portrayal of Rob from his on-screen wife.

“Martin is exceptional at playing a lovable d--khead,” Griffiths tells WHO.

The compliment is one the New Zealand actor takes pride in. While he has a string of international hits under his belt, including a stint on Grey's Anatomy, playing Rob is the gig he feels “most proud” of.
