Since winning Wimbledon for the first time in 1971, Evonne Goolagong has held a permanent place in Australian sporting history. Yet, behind her triumphs and trophies lies a story of resilience and hardship that few truly know. That is set to change with ABC's upcoming three-part miniseries Goolagong, which brings her extraordinary journey to the small screen.

The drama series traces Goolagong's rise from humble beginnings in Barellan, a small country town in New South Wales, where she grew up as part of the only Indigenous family, to the moment she stepped onto centre court at Wimbledon on the verge of making history.

Playing the titular role is Lila McGuire, a proud Whadjuk and Ballardong Noongar woman, who previously starred in the second season of The Twelve.
