Ever since she was a young girl studying at the prestigious Welham Girls’ School, Dehradun, Bindu Vadera knew it was her calling to be creative. From helping out with costumes and sets for dance and theatre recitals to excelling in art classes, it was evident to all and sundry that Bindu had a passion for the arts. This sentiment is still evident today both in her personal life and in her role as an interior designer and founder of Varya Design.

When we visit her well-appointed and cozy home in South Delhi, the first thing that strikes us is her tasteful décor. Striking wood furniture that has been painstakingly collected from different parts of the world, and resplendent works of art made by master artists like Sakti Burman and Anjolie Ela Menon as well as more contemporary names — infuse the space with oodles of personality. This is undoubtedly the home of a designer with a keen eye. Yet, Bindu had never imagined this would be the path she would follow.
