New photos mark Crown Prince Christian's 20th birthday and put the spotlight on one of Europe's most eligible young royals

Denmark's future king is ready for his closeup! Crown Prince Christian stars in a set of photos released by his proud parents, King Frederik and Queen Mary, in honour of his 20th birthday - and the images show him in a refreshingly relaxed light.

"The day is marked by the publication of a new official portrait series of the birthday boy," read the accompanying social media post.

One dashing snap shows Christian suiting up and knotting his tie, while others capture him, more casually, in a rolled-sleeve denim shirt. All were taken at and around the royal family's Copenhagen residence, Amalienborg Palace, offering fans a rare glimpse inside its elegant interiors.

Noticing the handsome heir's resemblance to both parents, admirers quickly flooded the comments section with best wishes for the increasingly popular prince.
