Prince Louis is surprisingly grown-up in new images captured at home to mark his seventh birthday

He may be the baby of the family, but little Louis is growing up fast! The prince's official birthday portrait shows him flashing a gap-toothed smile for the camera as he poses in a shirt, sweater and — something new for William and Kate’s youngest child — jeans. “Wishing Prince Louis a very happy seventh birthday!” wrote the Prince and Princess of Wales as they shared the picture on social media.

Marking a first for the royal, the image - captured by photographer Josh Shinner in Norfolk during the Easter break — was accompanied by behind-the-scenes footage. Louis is seen playfully running toward the camera and sitting on a tree trunk, proudly claiming, “I can jump down from here,” as he stands on another and leaps off.

“You can see he’s confident, outgoing and full of life,” royal author Phil Dampier tells
