Celebrated at the star-studded Governors Awards, Tom Cruise finally gets his Oscar

Mission: possible! Four-time Oscar nominee Tom Cruise was elated to finally receive the coveted statue during a star-studded ceremony at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 16th Governors Awards.

“Making films is not what I do – it is who I am,” the appreciative actor and director, 63, said in an emotional speech upon being presented with an honorary Oscar for his stellar career.

Reflecting on his origin story, Tom described sitting in a “darkened theatre” as a child and being mesmerized by the larger-than-life world he saw onscreen.
