Making a passionate plea to global leaders to “think big” to save our oceans, the Prince of Wales once again showed his growing influence on the world stage.

The heir to the throne made his opening and closing remarks in French as he called for urgent action to protect the seas at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco.

In a landmark speech, Prince William warned that the “clock is ticking” to meet the UN’s target to protect at least 30% of the world’s land and sea by 2030.

"Rising sea temperatures, plastic pollution and overfishing are putting pressure on these fragile ecosystems and on the people and communities who depend most upon them," he said.
