Veteran royal correspondent tells of the Queen's shocking teenage encounter in his brand new book

The Queen fought off an attacker who groped her on a train when she was a teenager, a new book has revealed.

Camilla used one of her shoes to fend off the man as she travelled to London's Paddington station in the early Sixties. The incident, which she is said to have recounted to former prime minister Boris Johnson in 2008, was described to the royal author Valentine Low by Boris's former communications director, Guto Harri.

He quoted Camilla as saying: "I did what my mother taught me to. I took off my shoe and whacked him in the nuts with the heel."

He added: "She was self-possessed enough when they arrived at Paddington to jump off the train, find a guy in uniform and say: 'That man just attacked me,' and he was arrested."
