Ballerina star Ana de Armas on becoming an action queen and why meeting Keanu Reeves was a dream come true

She’s the Academy Award-nominated actress who’s said to be dating action star Tom Cruise, yet Ana de Armas still finds herself starstruck.

By which A-lister, though? None other than her co-star in From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, Keanu Reeves.

“I was. I always am,” says the Cuban-born actress, who plays ballerina-turned-assassin Eve Macarro in the film. “I grew up as a huge Keanu Reeves fan. I loved him in Speed, so to be in a movie with him is a big moment for me.”

Ana, who made her name in Blade Runner 2049 and Knives Out and won an Oscar nod for her performance as Marilyn Monroe in 2022's Blonde, has worked with Keanu before, on 2015 erotic thriller Knock Knock.

“I first met Keanu just after he'd finished the first John Wick movie, so to be in this film is amazing to me. And then to have him on set was just too much,” she says. “Keanu is as wonderful as you'd imagine him to be. I love him.”
