Rihanna's children are delighted with her new film role - and for her inner five-year-old it's a dream come true

She's the world-famous singer with nine Grammy awards to her name, and now Rihanna has put huge smiles on her children's faces by taking a once-in-a-lifetime role as Smurfette in the new movie Smurfs.

Having revealed her third pregnancy at this year's Met Gala, the Umbrella singer, 37, who shares her sons RZA, three, and Riot, one, with her partner A$AP Rocky, is loving her "crazy" home life and is excited about sharing the film role with her family.

Here, Rihanna talks about her childhood love of the Smurfs, why she identifies with the "real and accessible" Smurfette character she plays and the challenges she has overcome in her career.

You're a mother of two with another baby on the way - what's life like in your house?

“It’s crazy but I love it. Every day is fun, and I love experiencing the world through them and with them. They keep me fit for sure. I love teaching them as their mom but also [they] teach me so much.”

What do your sons think of their mum being a Smurf?

“They're excited about it. To be there with them to see Smurfette on screen with my voice coming out of her mouth is a huge moment. It's fun to share this with them.”
