A FITTING TRIBUTE

The royal family bid an emotional farewell to the much-loved Duchess of Kent

It was the most solemn of farewells to a beloved member of the royal family. And as the King and the Prince and Princess of Wales joined the Duke of Kent, his children and his grandchildren for the funeral of Katharine, the Duchess of Kent, emotion was etched on their faces.

The Duke, 89, was accompanied by his daughter, Lady Helen Taylor, followed by her husband, Timothy, and their children, Columbus, Cassius, Eloise and Estella.

Her elder brother, the Earl of St Andrews, and his wife the Countess, attended with their children, Lord Downpatrick, Lady Marina Windsor and Lady Amelia Windsor. The Duke's youngest son, Lord Nicholas Windsor, was joined by his sons, Albert, Leopold and Louis.

DEVOTED FAMILY

The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, the Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duke and Duchess of York were among the mourners, as were Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor and Lady Gabriella Kingston.

The Queen was forced to stay at home as she recovered from a bout of sinusitis ahead of President Donald Trump's state visit to the UK.

Princess Alexandra attended with her son, James Ogilvy, his wife, Julia, and their children, Alexander Ogilvy and Flora Vesterberg. Flora was joined by her husband, Timothy.
