The Bhutani Filmfare Awards Punjabi 2025, held on August 23, 2025, at the grand I S Bindra PCA Stadium in Mohali, celebrated the finest achievements in Punjabi cinema for films released in 2024. The star-studded evening, supported by an elaborate stage setup with 132 speakers, brought together a dazzling array of performances, awards, and heartfelt tributes, highlighting the vibrant pulse of the Punjabi film industry.
The event opened on a poignant note, as the industry paid tribute to the late Jaswinder Bhalla, the beloved actor-comedian renowned for his iconic role as Advocate Dhillon in the Carry On Jatta franchise. Bhalla passed away on August 22, 2025, at the age of 65 in a Mohali hospital due to complications from a brain stroke. Filmfare honoured his legacy by showcasing a touching audiovisual tribute featuring highlights from his memorable career, evoking a deep sense of loss and celebration of his contribution to Punjabi cinema. Many, including Guggu Gill and Satinder Sartaaj spoke warmly about Bhalla, remembering his infectious humour, profound humility, and unique ability to connect with audiences across generations. Guggu Gill reflected on Bhalla's indelible impact, calling him while Sartaaj highlighted Bhalla's role in shaping Punjabi entertainment with grace and wit.
