During May, my social media timeline was flooded with images and reports of Indian celebs sunning themselves in Southern France. Everyone from Aishwarya Rai to Mouni Roy was there.
Cannes felt more like the Filmfare Awards than an international event. There were articles dedicated to our heroines making their debuts at Cannes. Debuts? Isn't that related to a film or a play or a song? Most Indian attendees, barring a few like Anurag Kashyap or Sunny Leone, weren't even showcasing their films there. I wondered about their relevance on the red carpet. That led to me to read up more about the event. So what exactly is the celebrated Cannes Film festival? According to its official website, it's a festival dedicated to celebrating art. This is how they themselves sum up the event.
