The CEAT Chennai plant at Sriperumbudur became the first tyre plant globally to receive the Deming Grand Prize in 2023 and was inducted into the WEF Global Lighthouse Network in 2025 for its digital transformation.

Under Shashikant Kharat's leadership, the plant has delivered improvements across operations. Over five years, manufacturing conversion costs have reduced by 35%, while capacity utilisation has reached 100%. Carbon emissions have declined by 49.03% and premature claims by 28.3%, with yield improving by 5%. OEE gains include extrusion up 47%, tyre building 38%, mixing 30%, and calendaring 21%. The plant has maintained zero lost time injuries.
