Her first exposure to patents came during her Master's programme in 1996-97. It was a time before the widespread use of the internet, and Patent searching was a difficult task. When she entered pharma R&D in 1998, focusing on generic products for regulated markets, navigating patents proved to be a significant challenge. These challenges actually engaged her mind even more deeply than she anticipated. This led her, between 2003 to 2009, to pursue a more structured education in this field of specialization.
“Those years were particularly demanding, as I balanced full-time work and study—often spending 12 to 15 hours a day away from home to remain equally committed to both,” she reveals. Yet the hard slog of juggling everything neatly didn't deter her at all. “In early 2005, I was presented with an opportunity to transition from R&D to the field of patents—a move I accepted with some hesitation, uncertain about what the future might hold” she says.
