AI is evolving from a supportive tool to a strategic Force. Here's what experts are forecasting for AI in 2026 and beyond.
AI is entering a mature phase, moving from experiments to enterprise-wide orchestration. IDC's FutureScape 2026 report predicts Agentic AI will evolve from isolated pilots into a core driver of decision-making and competitiveness across industries.
By 2030, nearly half of organizations (45%) will deploy AI agents at scale, and by 2026, 40% of G2000 roles will involve working with AI agents. Reflecting this shift, 70% of these 2000 CEOs will assess AI ROI through growth metrics, using it to boost revenue and transform business models without adding headcount.
Rapid AI adoption brings governance challenges. By 2030, 20% of G1000 firms may face regulatory scrutiny or leadership dismissals due to inadequate controls and governance of AI agents. Data readiness will be key differentiator—companies lacking AI-quality data could face 15% productivity loss by 2027, limiting their ability to scale GenAI and agentic solutions.
