Annual harvest celebration honours wine industry leaders for setting benchmarks

At the annual Wine Harvest Commemorative Event, held recently at Groot Constantia Wine Farm in Cape Town, top wine professionals were honoured for setting standards their peers can aspire to.
The annual Wine Harvest Commemorative Event includes a blessing of the new grape harvest and recognises individuals and organisations that have made outstanding contributions to the industry.
"This celebration reflects the depth of talent within our industry and gives confidence that South African wine can continue to compete in a demanding global market," Clifford van der Venter, chairperson of the Groot Constantia Trust, said in a statement.
The Retiefs of Van Loveren Family Vineyards in the Robertson Wine Valley received the 1659 Award for Visionary Leadership for their impact on wine tourism, industry transformation, sustainability, and innovation.
