HOW INDIA'S REFURBISHED TWO-WHEELER MARKET IS SHIFTING GEARS IN 2025
Entrepreneur magazine
|March - April 2025
Ever thought of buying a second-hand two-wheeler? India is seeing a surprising rise in the popularity of pre-owned and refurbished two-wheeler vehicles.

While new vehicle sales are chugging along, the pre-owned market is booming! Analysts predict this segment to reach a colossal 55.8 million units by 2027, surpassing the market for brand new bikes! This unexpected gear change for Indian consumers can be attributed to a confluence of factors, each as compelling as the last.
For many buyers, the cost of a brand-new two-wheeler can be a significant barrier. A certified refurbished bike, however, comes at a significantly lower price than a new one, making it a smart and affordable alternative without compromising on quality. But affordability is no longer the only factor driving this shift.

Passing Is a Power Move
I was never interested in team sports, but I loved track. I was confident in my speed and agility, and that made me a star on my high school team. This was always part of my personality: I am an individual; I do things my way. But one day at a track meet, I was competing in the 4-by-100-meter relay, which requires runners to pass a baton between each other three times. We were winning—until I fumbled the pass. The baton fell to the ground. We lost.
