Energy Sector Reform In 100 Days Of Interim Govt

The interim government formed after the political changeover triggered by the antidiscrimination movement has passed 100 days in office.

Questions have started being asked about whether the government has done enough to make changes to create dynamism toward achieving sustainable energy security essential for the seamless economic development of Bangladesh. The government has made some major decisions and made some changes. However, it is a general belief that without bringing changes in sector administration and setting up transparent and accountable processes at all segments of the power and energy supply chain very little meaningful success will be achieved. This government may not stay in state power for an unlimited period. The actions taken so far by the government might have done damage control, but are considered far short of bringing the derailed energy sector back on track. Line professionals, we mean the right people, are still not on the right track.
