Q&A: "A long-standing relationship"

In an interview with CRUISING HEIGHTS, Boeing India's President SALIL GUPTE speaks on the exciting developments in India and on how Boeing is taking advantage of the enormous growth in the aviation sector

Please provide an update on Boeing jetliners in service in India.

Boeing and India have had a long-standing relationship in commercial aviation. Boeing customers include Air India, Air India Express, Akasa Air, SpiceJet, Vistara and cargo operators Blue Dart and Quikjet. The 737, 737 MAX, 757, 777 and 787 Dreamliner are some of the Boeing aeroplanes offering a superior flying experience to Indian passengers. Akasa Air has placed an order for 72 737 MAX airplanes to build its fleet. SpiceJet has ordered more than 150 737 MAX jets. Vistara has ordered six 787-9 Dreamliners and Blue Dart- India's largest express cargo operator, utilises the 757 Freighter. SpiceXpress- SpiceJet's cargo division, operates 737-800 BCFs, the first in South Asia. The Indian Ministry of Defence operates several 737s and two specially modified Air India 777-300ERs are used as Head of State aeroplanes.
