Airbus solidifies growth strategy in China

Is tensions between China and the United States continue to French President Emmanuel Macron recently an official state visit to Beijing, during which Airbus announced a new cooperation agreement with its China Aviation industry partners.

The European aircraft manufacturer signed an agreement with the Tianjin Free Trade Zone Investment Company and Aviation Industry Corporation of China to expand production capacity for the A320 airliner family with a second assembly line in Tianjin.
Despite pressure on Europe from the Biden administration to isolate Beijing, Airbus entered the partnership, which highlighted the critical importance of China as a market for European companies.
In the presence of Macron and China's President Xi Jinping, the agreement was signed in Beijing by Airbus's Chief Executive, Guillaume Faury, who was part of an economic delegation that also comprised President Ursula von der Leyen of the European Union, as well as 50 French business leaders. It will help the company meet its global production rate objective of 75 aircraft per month in 2026.
