FAIRMONT SAN FRANCISCO PENTHOUSE SUITE

SOME OF THE most famous people in the world (Elton John, King Charles, Alfred Hitchcock, JFK) have slept in the 6,000-square-foot Fairmont San Francisco Penthouse Suite. The hotel opened in 1907, and the penthouse was designed in the 1920s by American archaeologist and art historian Arthur Upham Pope. While the space maintains most of its original charm, it has been extensively modernized by Champalimaud Design. Spanning the entire eighth floor, the accommodation includes three bedrooms, four bathrooms, a living room with a fireplace and grand piano, formal dining room, kitchen, two-story library featuring a celestial map rendered in gold leaf against a sapphire sky, billiards room, and outdoor terrace overlooking Nob Hill. Work that has changed the world has been conducted in this suite.
