A detailed look into the methodology and process followed for the BT-MDRA India’s Best B-schools Survey 2023

How We Ranked Them

With significant improvements in the number of data points, the 11th edition of BT-MDRA India’s Best B-schools Survey 2023—and 24th overall—retains the same fundamentals that it started with in 2013. The ranking provides the most credible and exhaustive rankings of India’s Best B-schools based on the most recent data. With the changing needs of time, new rankings have been introduced, such as Top 20 Oneyear MBAs; Top 10 Edtech platforms providing management courses, and Top 15 Executive Programmes.

As the country’s most scientific and methodical ranking of the best business education programmes—the lists have jointly been prepared by Business Today and market research firm Marketing & Development Research Associates (MDRA).

Methodology for Full-time MBA/PGDM Ranking

A comprehensive list of B-schools offering full-time, classroom management programmes (PGDM/MBA), and established at least five years ago with a minimum of three graduated batches was prepared. The objective questionnaire was fine-tuned to obtain the latest and most relevant information based on the latest data of 127 attributes, to provide a realistic, updated and accurate picture. More than 2,500 B-schools fulfilling the qualification criteria were contacted, clearly mentioning the deadline and that there was no participation fee. Of these, 273 submitted the data within the timeline, and 272 of them were ranked as one did not fulfill the eligibility criteria.

Long Live The Back Office!

The rise of India's information technology sector started in the early-1990s, soon after economic liberalisation, when global firms began outsourcing software development work to the country. Between 1997 and 1999, Indian firms saw a boom on account of the work they did to fix the software of older computer systems that used two-digit codes to denote calendar years.
